Job Posting System: Feedback Wanted

Hello all - I am pasting below the link that Tyler sent us, which could serve as an example job posting system:

http://www.preventionresearch.org/sprcareers.php

If any of you have any thoughts on how we could improve on this, please post a reply outlining your suggestions.

Also, Tyler is interested in identifying a member or members who would be willing and able to work closely with him on working through some of the details of this and subsequent aspects of the Web development process. Please let it be known if this is a role you'd like to take on. Any takers???

Cheers,
Mark

  1. I think the format of this job posting system is as good as any I've seen. I especially like that at a glance the location and title are easy to assess. When we click on the job title and get a detailed job description, it would be very nice to have information about salary (e.g., range, floor, ceiling, or something!). I hate when I read about all these jobs and have no clue what they would pay. Other than that, I think it's great.

  2. The detail sheet accessed through the title link is a nice feature; further, I agree that just a little more detail would be helpful. I think it would be nice if the detail sheet were a composite of required fields that the prospective employers were to complete. Example fields might include: Overview; Responsibilities, Qualifications; Salary and Terms; Company Website; How to Apply. This way, even if they were to enter something vague like, “competitive,” in the Salary field, we could ballpark from the Qualifications field whether we were over or under qualified. Furthermore, if it said master’s degree, for example, we might surmise that the salary is below our expectation.

I’m sure that this is presumed, but it would be good if notices of postings were sent out in listserv fashion. That is, members could specify whether they want to be notified of posting “as posted,” “daily,” “weekly,” “never.”

Lastly, this might be too fancy, but a nice feature for the table would be if it could sort upon command. That is, this example has a default sorting by date posted; however, a nice feature might be if it were somewhat interactive, to where we could sort by title, employer, and location.

    …just some thoughts 
